The ability of the clinicalà  personnelà  or staff is also not congruent in the appropriate d   issemination,à  applicationà  andà  translationà  of the healthcareà  knowledgeà  thatà  is currently generatedà  in the clinical practice (Jackson, 2000). This form of knowledge is usually available in a different medium, but occurs in large volumes thus posing a challenge to the healthcare experts to be aware andà  implementà  the pertinent andà  relevantà  parts to the decisions of patient care. These decisions need to rely on theà  most relevant,à  appropriateà  andà  currentà  knowledgeà  available, and implement alongside the availableà  dataà  on point-of-care patient as well as in line with the therapeutic references of the patients. Recent studies have also proven that healthcare professionals have limited access and implementation of the current healthcareà  knowledge, and this ultimately affects the mostà  sensitiveà  partà  which is the optimal healthcare delivery to patients. Several surveys and studies have reported over 98,000 deaths of patient   s each year due to preventable errors. Another study revealed that 11% patients admitted to hospitals experienced or encountered adverse events, 48% of the occurrences wouldà  have been preventedà  if theà  rightà  and relevantà  knowledgeà  isà  applicableà  (Bates et al, 2003). These evidencesà  showà  the under utilization of the continuously generated healthcareà  knowledge, which results toà  wrongà  clinical decisions, under utilization of resources, medical errors and high costs of healthcare delivery. Purpose and Research Questions Healthcareà  knowledgeà  isà  highlyà  critical in decision making, in clinical situations involving the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Implementation of this knowledge in theà  correctà  way ensures effective diagnostic decisions andà  subsequentà  workingà  therapeutic regimes. Decision making by clinical experts occurs in a cyclicà  wayà  characterized byà  applicationà  of the healthcareà  knowledgeà  in val   idating the initial hypotheses, which meets the requirements of the final decision and deals withà  potentialà  challenges (Montanià  &à  Bellazzi, 2002).à  There isà  dynamicà  contextualization of the healthcareà  knowledgeà  in interpreting the health status of a patient, and finding the rightà  treatmentà  interventions that suit each patient, in aà  specificà  situationà  or clinicalà  condition.à  The key to achieving suchà  successfulà  andà  effectiveà  decisions and treatment regimes is by making theà  relevant, current andà  correctà  knowledgeà  available toà  clinicalà  professionals inà  lineà  to theirà  clinicalà  context. The author believes that the timely and effective use of suchà  knowledgeà  canà  transformà  theà  potentialà  andà  natureà  of healthcare practices. This has theà  sureà  potentialà  of yieldingà  highà  and quality levels ofà  teamà  care, patient care, patient centeredness, quality care, and cost eff   ective healthcare (Bali &à  Dwivedi, 2006).
